Sneak Peeks
A little bit of what's to come...
Its been over a month since my last newsletter and I know one is due.
While my absence may seem to represent a period of no work or less work, it has, in fact, been one of the busiest times of my life with me juggling six different comic book projects, both writing and coloring, the ever-present-day job, an infected hand, plus other things not worth mentioning.
(Except for DayZ. I have been lured back into a post-apocalyptic wasteland and find myself obsessed with surviving another day, which is the only point of the game. There is no story, no goals, no tasks to complete. Just survival. And long treks through the woods… And keeping your feet dry so you don’t catch a cold and die from exposure. How is this game so fun? Anyone else play it?)
Since we are still over a month out from the release of BIRDKING Vol.2, I thought I’d share some of what else is in the pipeline. Nothing below has been formally announced. Nor will I be sharing any info on the stories or formats. But I do want to tease you a little…
Some kind of space race…
While Robert Sammelin and I may have moved on from post-apocalyptic deserts, we still have more high-octane action spectacles to deliver. First up will involve these two arch enemies.
A girl and her dog…
Supreme artist Debbie Tsoi lays down some designs for a story about a girl named Cass and her best dog ever: Mr. Burrito. What off world adventures will they get into??
Some Crystal Sorcerers
Incomparable talent Filya Bratukhin will be telling the tale with his characteristic hyper-detailed artwork. Must be seen to be believed.
Tech noir
As you’ll see by the date on this cover image, this project has been a long time coming, and the blame lays solely on me. Planning on finally releasing this one next year. My apologies to the awesome Henrik Sahlstrom
Cyberpunk Heisting (the best kind)
What a treat this one is, with blazing hot kinetic art from Italian master Lorenzo Nuti.
Erotic fantasy anyone?
Maybe the best subgenre yet? With fun classy art from another Italian maverick Arianna Farricella.
Last but certainly not least
I am very proud and excited to announce that Tomm Coker and I will be finally completing what we started over ten years ago. Should have a lot more, even more exciting, news on this project in the coming months, both book and film ;)
And the best part…
None of these are the six projects I mentioned at the head. Well, maybe two of them but lets just say I have even more in the works that is not teased here. A lot more. For the first time in my life, after working at this for almost fifteen years, I have finally found a groove and solved my productivity. It can of course improve and I’m always working at that, but I am on the road, my feet are walking, and every day, I get closer to the destination.
Keep on your work. Keep pushing. Never give up. Never surrender. You’ll get there if you just keep at it.
